FEMALE SOCCER GETS KICK IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!

October 14, 2012 By SistersInSoccer

Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club is excited to introduce our new female player appreciation program… Sisters in Soccer. This program will work to support our girls in several different ways.

The first component, the Buddy & Mentor phase, will allow the mentors to realize their hidden potential, as well as give the buddies something to strive for. This adds a sense of community and unity.

The second component, a website, is be a new tool to inform, educate and highlight the achievements of women in soccer, as well as a resource for finding information on how to further your soccer career.

Newly appointed Club Ambassador-Female Soccer, Sophie Schmidt will lead an impressive ‘Expert’ panel, who will be available to offer advice/guidance on a range of topics such as Health and Wellness, player & coach development, along with professional development/Advancement advice.

The third component will include female specific events such as summer training camps, tournaments, female specific coaching & referee clinics…and more.

Program coordinator, Carlos Zamora said “We look forward to the many and exciting initiatives that Sisters in Soccer will offer. We hope that by empowering our girls and fostering a love of soccer, that they can go on to achieve the best they can at all levels of the game and fulfill their potential.”

“We are very excited about Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club’s new initiative, Sisters in Soccer. The female appreciation program is leading edge and first of its kind in BC.”

“We believe this pilot program is a great example of improving female development initiatives and one that can be a great model for other clubs across the province.”
