School of Excellence Announcement
The Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club is proud to announce the introduction of the ‘School of Excellence’ program available for players born 1998-2003.
This exciting new program offers these age groups a year round program designed under the Canadian Soccer Association’s ‘Player First’ mentality and the national ‘Long Term Player Development’ strategy.
School of Excellence
A holistic development program for the committed and skilled club player, where the emphasis is on appropriate, training & education allied with a combination of League, exhibition, tournament and travel opportunities.
The School of Excellence development program will provide understanding in the players’ commitment to other activities (including the desire for School soccer) and the need for periods of rest/regeneration.
Commitment to the School of Excellence will be on an annual basis August-June.
An annual – periodized plan will be produced and strictly adhered to.
Three (3) School of Excellence classes will be formulated for each gender. Classes will be selected by age but will not preclude the opportunity for upward player movement between classes. Players will not be moved down in class.
A maximum of 18 players will be chosen for each class.
Kinder-Class (U13/U14) Junior-Class (U15/U16) Senior-Class (U17/U18)
Professional Staff & Qualified Coaches will be engaged to run and oversee the School of Excellence. Each Staff coach will oversee no more than 2 classes/teams.
On-Field learning program to include areas such as;
Technical: Individual technique/skill development (dribbling, turning, control, heading, passing, shooting etc…)
Tactical: Position-specific (GK, Full-Back, Centre-Back, Wide-Midfield, Centre-Midfield, Striker)
Tactical: Team Play – Formations.
Physical: Development of Aerobic and Anaerobic capacities. Range of motion, strength & conditioning etc…
Off-Field learning program to include areas such as;
Injury prevention and rehabilitation
Nutrition: Meal planning, snacks, supplements

Post-Secondary ‘Exit’ Strategy – Student-Athlete Scholarship Advisory program
