WELCOME!

 Welcome to the Abbotsford Soccer Association Easter Tournament.  

The event is inspired to have families experience a fun, relaxed and enjoyable experience that will bring new soccer experiences with the Abbotsford Soccer Association. either act as a winter ‘wrap-up’ or spring ‘kick-off’ event. 

We are pleased to provide the following information by way of allowing all teams (coaches, players, parents) to gain an understanding of the rules, as it relates to  the event and the respective game formats.  

To confirm, all game formats and applicable rules will align with the guidance as  offered in the BC Soccer Small-Sided Games Manual and the BC Soccer Small Sided Referee Rules Handbook. 

In closing, we wish to acknowledge the tremendous support of this event from the City of Abbotsford, Sport Abbotsford, Tourism Abbotsford and the many volunteers within the Abbotsford Soccer Association.

Eligibility

  • All participating teams/players MUST be currently registered with their respective District & Provincial Associations.
  • Participating teams are required to complete the applicable Team Roster Sheet.
  • Team Coaches/Managers must submit the Team Sheet/Player Roster Form and any applicable Short-Term Event Player Permit Request Forms to the registration desk located at the venue.
  • The ASA (host club) will not be liable for any injuries to any participant in the Easter Tournament, on or off the fields.

Age Requirements

  • U-6 / U-7: 2018 and 2019
  • U-8 / U-9: 2017 and 2016
  • U-10 / U-13: 2012 or later
  • U-14 / U-18: 2011 or later

Important Dates

  • Registration Opens: February 28th, 2025
  • Registration Closes: March 28th, 2025

Tournament Registration Fees

  • U-6 / U-7: $200.00 per team
  • U-8 / U-9: $350.00 per team
  • U-10 / U-13: $350.00 per team
  • U-14 / U-18: $350.00 per team

Registration Process

  • Registration is completed through PowerUp.
  • Please visit the Abbotsford Soccer Association website: www.abbotsfordsoccer.com

1. Registration/Team Check-In

  • Teams are required to check in at the registration/information desk at least one (1) hour before their first game at Matsqui Recreational Complex (3106 Clearbrook Road).
  • The desk will be located at the ASA Tent, near the changing room facility and Field #4.
  • Alternatively, check in at the ASA Tent at Abby Senior (33355 Bevan Ave).

2. Conduct

  • Coaches are expected to set an example of conduct and sportsmanship, maintaining control over their players, team parents, and spectators.
  • A zero tolerance policy is in place for foul and abusive language.
  • Smoking is not permitted near the playing fields. Please smoke only in designated areas away from the athletes and outside the fencing.

3. Position of Teams/Spectators

  • Team members (players and coaches) will occupy positions on the same side of the field, opposite the center line.
  • Spectators must watch the game from the opposite side of the field from the team bench.

4. Scores / Standings

  • The Easter Tournament follows National & Provincial LTPD requirements.
  • Scores will be recorded, but no standings will be published.
  • All tied games will be resolved with penalties.
  • U14-U18 scores will be recorded for standings, the 4th game will be played for finals

5. Conduct

  • The Organizing Committee’s decisions regarding the event’s conduct shall be final.
  • The referee’s decisions regarding the game results are final, and the referee is the sole timekeeper.

6. Cautions/Ejections (U-10 / U-13 and U-14 / U-18)

  • Cautions/Yellow Cards: A player who receives two (2) cautions in the same game (leading to ejection) will face an automatic one (1) game suspension.
  • Ejections/Red Cards:
    • All ejections/red cards will be reviewed by the Discipline Committee and appropriate suspensions will be determined as per BC Soccer guidelines.
    • U-8 / U-9 divisions will generally not require cautions/ejections, with referees and coaches adopting a common-sense approach.
    • Players ejected for deliberately handling the ball to prevent a goal will sit out the remainder of the game, but substitution is allowed.
    • Ejections for serious foul play, violent conduct, or abusive language will result in an automatic one (1) game suspension.

7. Discipline Committee

  • Reports submitted by game officials for cautions and dismissals will be reviewed by the Discipline Committee according to the BC Soccer Judicial Code/Discipline Policy.

8. Protests

  • All protests must be submitted in writing with a $50.00 cash fee to the event Headquarters within one hour of the game.
  • No protests regarding the referee’s decisions will be accepted.
  • A representative from each team will appear before the Discipline Committee.
  • The protest fee will be refunded only if the protest is upheld.

9. Cancellations

  • After the entry deadline, teams cannot withdraw without forfeiting all payments.
  • If the event is cancelled, the Abbotsford Soccer Association will refund the entry fees but will not cover any other expenses.

10. Organizing Committee

  • The Organizing Committee is responsible for all matters related to the event.
  • For questions regarding the interpretation of these Rules and Procedures, the Committee will make final decisions. There will be no appeals from these decisions.
